Our experienced Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures team travels the world year-round pursuing the next great fly-fishing adventure. As talk of planning for late-summer and fall trips begin, the consensus throughout our staff is that the second half of the year can be a great time for a fly-fishing trip. Broken down by month, here are some ideal destinations for a unique late-summer or fall season fly fishing adventure.

August: Kamchatka and Costa Rica

September: Montana and Belize

Montana: With above average snowpack and a late spring, September in Montana will not want to be missed. Hatches of Blue Winged Olives can offer head-hunting to rising trout. Anglers desiring trophy-sized trout can enjoy casting larger streamers in pursuit of the big one. From beginners to experienced anglers, Montana always serves up something special in September.

Belize is also an ideal destination for anglers with non-angling companions.

El Pescador Lodge and Villas. The first guest buys a single occupancy package and your roommate comes free!

December – Providence Atoll, Seychelles and Argentina and Chilean Patagonia

Providence Atoll: Join our special hosted trip with Jeff Currier to chase Giant Trevally, bonefish, triggerfish and bumphead parrotfish. This is not a trip for everyone, as it is an expeditionary, adventurous week spent in one of the most remote places in the Indian Ocean. Spend the week aboard the mothership, exploring the flats and shallow waters of the largest atoll in the region. You can expect long fishing days, hard-working and adventurous guides, a wild and untouched marine environment, and some of the finest flats fishing in the world.
